After his sister’s grisly murder, detective Matt Mariono is in despair. As recent images of Daisy flash in his mind, he receives a phone call. A miracle. Against all odds, Daisy, his dead sister, is on the other end of the phone. Skeptical at first, Matt thinks this ghostly call is a prank. The truth, however, is quickly revealed. It is Daisy, and now Matt is in a race against time to save her from her impending doom. Matt has to convince his sister of their un-equaling timeline and prevent her from making the biggest mistake of all: trusting the man she loves. This is “BAD CONNECTION.”
Being my first Sci-Fi Thriller, Bad Connection, was a bit of a challenge, yet it expanded my talents as a director. It was an amazing opportunity for my career, to push myself out of my own creative box and develop my range as an artist. I especially enjoyed the opportunity to direct practical visual effects with an amazing production team. I hope you enjoy this film as much as I enjoyed creating it.
-- Director, Apollo Miller
The vision behind Bad Connection was ambitious with a few practical effects, including a mysterious drop of red wine that appears on Matt’s cloth from Daisy’s glass. Our production designer practiced the practical effect before hand with a number of different methods and narrowed it down to one that proved to work efficiently. Although she practiced, while on set, she couldn’t seem to get the effect to work out the same way. Thinking fast on her feet and with the encouragement of our crew, she improvised her plan and was able to get the effect to work for the shot, only cutting into five minutes of our tight schedule. Our 1st Assistant Director was able to make up for the lost time and we completed the production of Bad Connection on October 16, 2015 on time and under budget!
